My Priorities for Stafford

Building decent, affordable council housing

People are trapped in insecure, unsuitable and unaffordable housing. We need to increase social and council house building, available to rent and buy.

Access to healthcare

Declining facilities at County Hospital, fewer GPs, and scarce NHS dentists are causing suffering in Stafford. I will ensure residents get the access to healthcare they deserve.

A national childcare and early years service

I’ll challenge unaffordable childcare costs that can lock people out of employment, and damage the wellbeing of families.

You only have to look at my background to know that I am not a career politician

I’m proudly working class and the last Labour Government’s investment in young people gave me and countless others, a hand up and a chance to progress.

I’ve spent years in grassroots campaigning and understand the struggles facing ordinary people. I’m standing to become your Labour MP to restore opportunity, renew ambition, and revitalise hope for a brighter future.

Through moving for work I’ve seen that no town or city is immune from the damage of a crashed economy, trashed public services and this Tory cost-of-living crisis.

We need change, and I want to play my part in it. I’ll campaign tirelessly for Stafford; whether it’s expanding hospital, GP and dentistry capacity; increasing access to childcare and securing well-paid, unionised jobs, or building decent, affordable, social and council housing to rent and buy, and enabling Stafford to make the most of its location and connectivity.

I’m ready to roll up my sleeves, to turn Stafford red. I hope I can earn your vote.

Beat the Tories in their own patch

Taking the Conservatives on in their own patch and winning - eight years of local council Conservative control brought to an end

Helped alleviate food poverty

Reversing Tory cuts to free school meal holiday vouchers - helping to alleviate food poverty among some of our most vulnerable children by a third

Won better energy deals for everyone

Beat an energy monopoly - I fought a developer/supplier deal which was pushing neighbours into fuel poverty, and won better deals for everyone

Supported young people

Delivering huge investment in vital children's and youth services to support young people and their families during this mental health crisis
